The Foundations of Our Work

The programs offered through The Perspectives Project are grounded in an understanding often referred to as the Three Principles: Mind, Consciousness, and Thought.

This understanding was first articulated by Sydney Banks and has since informed transformative work in education, mental health, corrections, and community wellbeing around the world.

These principles describe how human experience is created from the inside out and point to the innate resilience and wellbeing present within every person.

Mind

Mind refers to the universal intelligence behind life — the formless energy that animates and sustains all living things. It is the deeper source of wisdom and insight that allows human beings to grow, learn, and thrive.

Consciousness

Consciousness is our capacity to be aware and experience life. It brings our thoughts to life, allowing us to see, feel, and experience the world around us.

Thought

Thought is the creative power that shapes our personal experience of life. Through thought, we interpret and make meaning of the world around us. Our moment-to-moment experience is constantly being created through this process.

Understanding how Mind, Consciousness, and Thought work together helps people recognize the deeper resilience and clarity already present within them.
